It’s Never Too Late to Begin
Whether you’re looking for fitness, a new challenge, or high-level competition, fencing is a sport you can enjoy for a lifetime.

What MFA provides
Adults of every experience level are welcome. We offer beginner instruction, intermediate and advanced classes, private lessons, open fencing, and coaching in foil, épée, and sabre.
Training
Most beginners start in our introductory classes before joining regular training groups, and at this age that usually means épée. Épée runs every level in the same class — first lesson through to competitive — and they train together rather than being split by standard, so a new fencer is brought on by the people already there. Experienced fencers are placed into classes that best match their skill level and goals.
Why fencing?
Fencing is one of the few sports people can enjoy well into their 70s and beyond. It improves balance, agility, coordination, cardiovascular health, mental sharpness, and reaction time while providing a welcoming social community.
Competition
Adults may compete in local, regional, national, and Veteran USA Fencing events — or simply fence recreationally for fitness and fun.
