| Introduction to fencing course |

We offer 2 seprate classes for beginners (Beginner Class 1 & Beginner Clas 2). Each class is limted to 16 participants so please register early if possible. Every six weeks we'll start another set of classes. Participants will be scheduled for either our Tuesday or Thursday 4pm-6pm class. In addition, Saturday is open (12 noon to 3pm) for additional open fencing with all MFA members. Additional information can be found at Beginner Class 1 or Beginner Class 2. |
- Learn the history of fencing and how it applies to modern fencing today
- Learn how to salute, advance, double advance, retreat, double retreat, lunge and advance lunge
- Holding weapon correctly and learn to move with confidence.
- Learn 4 basic attack movements
- Learn 5 basic defensive movements (parries and ripostes)
- Rules and regulations as they apply to the begriming fencer
- Learn fencing terms used in the sport
- Introduction to balancing techniques
- Learn the use of the fencing strip, positioning on it, and why
- Learn mental aptitude and its relation to the sport
- Participate in round robin tournaments with electrical scoring equipment used in official competitions
- Certificate of completion at end of course.
